A graduate of the F. Chopin Musical Academy in Warsaw, where she studied under Professor Urszula Mazurek. As a grant holder of the Ministry of Culture and Art, she participated in numerous international harp competitions in France, Germany, Czechoslovakia and Italy. For a number of years, she has been active as a concerto soloist and a chamber musician. Her repertoire includes a few dozen harp concertos. She has performed with almost all philharmonic orchestras in Poland. She was the first musician in Poland to perform many concertos. She recorded archived for Polish Radio concertos of following composers: Witold Lutosławski, Marceli Popławski, Jerzy Maksymiuk, Stanisław Moryto, Elżbieta Sikora, Bogusław Scheaffer, Maciej Małecki, Tadeusz Paciorkiewicz, Marcelo Grandjany, J. F. Haendel B-major concerto, Thomas Daniel Schlee’s “Wacht auf, Harfe und Saitenspiel” op. 35, Piotr Moss concerto for the Celtic harp and concerto “Voyage” for two harps, Waldemar Kazanecki “Allegro” for harp and orchestra, Marta Ptaszyńska Concerto for flute and harp and C. Debussy’s “Dances”. As a chamber musician, she has been performing for several years in duets with the flute, oboe, soprano, for two harps, with percussion, and in the Warsaw Harp Quartet. She devotes much of her attention to world premieres of modern music, and took part in the following festivals: Warsaw Autumn, Forum of Young Composers, Poznań Musical Spring, Festival of Modern Polish Music in Wrocław, Music Festival of the Polish Radio, the Łańcut Music Festival, Warsaw Musical Meetings and numerous others. For nearly forty years, she has been working in various symphony orchestras. She was a harpist at the Polish Radio Symphony Orchestra in Katowice for many years. She is currently a member of the Polish Radio Orchestra in Warsaw. Anna Sikorzak-Olek made many archived recordings for Polish Radio and TV. Her portfolio includes many CDs, such as: a recital with flutist Kazimierz Moszyński, chamber music for the harp by Grażyna Bacewicz, CD with harp concertos of the 20th century, recorded with the Amadeus orchestra under the baton of Agnieszka Duczmal which was nominated for the “Fryderyk 2001” award, Thomas Daniel Schlee’s concerto on the original CD, Ernest Bloch’s Suite Modale with flutist Katherine DeJongh, “Souvenir - Beliebte Stucke fur Violine und Harfe” with husband Jarosła Olek “Three Colours” – film music by Z. Preisner, “Christmas Carols for the End of the Century” by Z. Preisner, “Quartet in 4 Movements” by Z. Preisner, “Andrzej Panufnik POLONIA” cpo PR “Zaratrusta” by Paweł Szymański (theatre music.) Stanislaw Moryto Concerto for harp and percussion “20th Century Polish Harp Concertos” DUX 0953 i 0954. She has also been recording film music in cooperation with: Zbigniew Preisner (among others the “Decalogue” and “Three Colours” by K. Kieślowski), Jan A., P. Kaczmarek, Paweł Szymański, Krzesimir Dębski, Michał Lorenz, Stanisław Syrewicz and others. Anna Sikorzak-Olek is also a devoted teacher. She is involved in promoting initial teaching of Celtic harp in Poland. She composes chamber pieces for Celtic harp for children. She is the founder the president of assotiation “Harp for Children”. For 18 years he has been leading the harp ensemble “Wiktorska Harp Open” in Warsaw. She runs the harp class at the Academy of Music in Gdańsk and harp classes in music schools in Warsaw and Poznań.
